Worldview Snapshots offers satellite imagery from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument on board NASA's Aqua and Terra satellites and the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) instrument on board the joint NASA/NOAA Suomi-National Polar orbiting Partnership (Suomi-NPP) satellite. Imagery is provided by the Global Imagery Browse Services (GIBS). Near real-time imagery through the Land, Atmosphere Near real-time Capability for EOS (LANCE) is available approximately 3 hours after satellite overpass.
Worldview Snapshots is the successor to Rapid Response Subsets. Rapid Response had been providing global swath and subset imagery from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) since 2001. Near Real-Time (Orbit Swath) Images for Terra and Aqua/MODIS, Suomi-NPP/VIIRS and NOAA-20/VIIRS are still available until the Summer 2019.
